Our clients are currently seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join and lead their amazing nursing team in Cumbria. You will be in a friendly, supportive environment within a rewarding role.
You will be involved in all aspects of nursing; responsible for a variety of nursing duties as well as sharing best practice with your team and helping to support and develop the student nurses in your practice. The successful candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse as defined by RCVS with previous experience working in a small animal practice.
The practice requires a confident HRVN with strong leadership abilities to lead a team of two SVN's and support the Vets with a high volume of procedures. The ideal candidate will have the drive to manage the admin side of the practice too!
You will be working 40 hours per week with the standard 1 in 4 weekend shifts as well as a fair share of bank holiday and on call.
This role offers a salary of £27,573 - £28,635 per annum, depending on experience. Our clients offer £300 CPD allowance with 2-days leave and in-house CPD available, on-going training is provided as relevant to your role, RCVS and VDS fees paid, 25-days paid annual leave, exclusive company discounts and rewards.
- RCVS with previous experience working in a small animal practice
- English language skills with proven ability to communicate effectively
- Computer literate
- Proven empathy with patients and clients
- Demonstrate initiative in patient welfare
- Understand PCA and SVN duties
- Driving licence preferred
- Demonstrable ability to work in a team and lead a team
- Demonstrable ability to work under pressure
- Attention to detail
The team perform a high volume of procedures which means the practice is equipped with full in house lab, ethylene oxide sterilisation and digital x-ray. The practice is set up over three floors with separate cat ward and theatre.
You will be working with a great team made up of 1.5 Vets, both trained in clinical coaching, and 2 Student Nurses.
