Description

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their dynamic, ever-growing team on a permanent basis. They are a Practice that deal in small animal and exotics, with an accredited RCVS hospital that has all the facilities and equipment to enable them to deliver a gold standard level of animal care. They also have additional branches.

The current practice team is made up of 14 vets; multiple certificate holders, both vets and nurses. In addition, there is a head nurse, a specialist theatre nurse, 8 RVN’s and 8 SVN’s, allowing for 24-7 cover for out of hour’s calls. My client's Practice also collaborate with visiting specialists in cardiology and ophthalmology.

There is a supportive team with a healthy mix of newly qualified and highly experienced vets. If you are newly qualified, they have experience with training new grads and can support this exciting start to your career. They are a busy practice with a varied caseload which has enabled some of their graduate vets to complete their PDP within a year.

For an experienced veterinary surgeon, they offer the opportunity to expand surgical experience through a busy and varied surgical list, gain sole charge experience at branch level, further enhance medical knowledge via their busy hospital ward and in-house emergency service. They are fully supportive  with further training ambitions and certificates are encouraged.

My client provides a full out of hours’ emergency service and this is shared on a rota basis.

Their vet rota is over a rota period (usually 7 to 9 weeks) where a vet will do the following OOH:

Mon & Tues on call – from 2pm each day until 8am the next morning and off Wednesday

Wed & Thurs on call – from 2pm each day until 8am the next morning and off Friday

Weekend on call – Fri/Sat/Sun from 2pm until 9am each day off on the Monday

Saturday morning – 9am until 2pm

When not on call the shifts are 8 to 5pm and 9am to 6pm.

Weekend coverage is 1 in 4. This is rota’d days off after OOH work to ensure a good work/ life balance.  While on call you have the support of a senior vet as back up to discuss cases, assist you and attend if required.

Competitive salary package, CPD allowance, RCVS Fees paid, 5 weeks holiday.
