Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this dynamic team South Wales.

They are an independent and growing, small animal and exotics practice, with an accredited RCVS hospital and 3 branches. They are proud to have a purpose-built hospital with all the facilities and equipment to enable them to deliver a gold standard level of animal care.

Due to continuing organic growth, they are currently looking to recruit a permanent veterinary surgeon.

The current practice team is made up of 14 vets. They have a supportive team that works hard and socialises together, there is a healthy mix of newly qualified vets and highly experienced vets.

For an experienced veterinary surgeon (Minimum 2 years UK experience post qualification), they offer the opportunity to expand surgical experience through a busy and varied surgical list, gain sole charge experience at branch level, further enhance medical knowledge via the busy hospital ward and in-house emergency service. They fully supportive further training ambitions and certificates are encouraged.

The team contains multiple certificate holders, both vets and nurses. In addition, they collaborate with visiting specialists in cardiology and ophthalmology. As a result, they are very fortunate not to refer many cases and to provide a full and varied in-house service.

They have a great team of nurses who will support you. This includes a head nurse, a specialist theatre nurse, 8 RVN’s and 8 SVN’s. The fantastic nurses are there 24-7 and answer the out of hour’s calls.

This means that your on-call duty only involves the actual emergency work.

The practice prides themselves on providing a full out of hours’ emergency service and this is shared on a rota basis.

Weekend coverage is 1 in 4. However, the practice believes in true work live balance and to ensure the Vets get this balance right there are rota’ d days off after OOH work. While on call you have the support of a senior vet as “back up” to discuss cases, assist you and attend if required.

Competitive salary package dependant on experience, CPD allowance, RCVS Fees paid, 5 weeks holiday.
